American Shad Fishing on the St. Johns River
Spend a beautiful winter day fishing on the historic St. Johns River for American Shad, aka "Southern Steelhead". Use ultralight tackle or light fly rods for these seasonal visitors as they briefly inhabit the upper river basin to spawn from December through March. This trip is as close to a freshwater trout or salmon-style experience a Florida angler can have without leaving the state.
